The Montmorenci Volunteer Fire Department was incorporated on May 19, 1981. The Department was established and recognized by the State as an eleemosynary, non-profit Corporation in the State of South Carolina. The purpose of the Department was, and is, "to be a benevolent association to furnish fire protection and other public safety services; to bring forth people from the community on a volunteer basis in order that they might share their experiences and strength in preventing fires and extinguishing fires with the proper use of equipment; to acquire and own real and personal property and to borrow money to carry out this purpose."
